This challenging $2.4 Million project required a variety of technical innovations and immense quantities of work within a short period of time.
Bulk excavation of 126,000 cubic meters of topsoil, clay and peat was done to create a 5.0 hectare lake and wetland. The spoil from the excavation was trucked in to raise the existing Fleetwood dyke and Serpentine River dyke and to create raised areas for wildlife.
A bridge was built over Bear Creek to facilitate construction; it was later transformed into a pedestrian bridge.
A park was subsequently created, complete with parking lot, pedestrian walkway and landscaping.
